Chris Emerson is an exciting, young musician who is breaking new ground with the mandolin. Combining an impressive technical command with an innovative approach, Chris is turning heads with his own blend of bluegrass, acoustic and jazz. Equally adept on acoustic and electric mandolin, he is developing a style that blends traditional conventions with brand new ideas. A serious student of music, Chris taught himself to play by studying and listening to such mandolinists as Sam Bush, David Grisman, Bill Monroe, and Matt Mundy. His affinity for many diverse genres of music such as jazz, classical, celtic and rock is also very evident in his playing. Chris is a founding member of the new-acoustic group, Candlewyck, and a promising new talent in bluegrass music.
